The Dominican - a new hotel in Brussels!

A special location, a historic identity

The Dominican is a four star hotel in the Leopoldstraat at the back of the theatre La Monnaie. It opened on 8th november 2007.

The high ceilings in the hotel and the cloisters will be reminiscent of the Dominican abbey that once stood on this location in the 15th century. Later, the well known French painter Jacques-Louis David who died in Brussels in 1825, has lived here, and the house was named after him. He even completed his last great masterpiece "Mars Disarmed by Venus" here. The original façade of Jacques-Louis David's house has remained intact and was integrated.

Belgian Architect's office Lens Ass and Dutch designer duo Colin Finnegan and Gerard Glintmeijer of FG Stijl  designed the hotel together. FG Stijl won the prestigious "Prix-Villegiature Paris" award in the Best Interior Design category in Europe last year. The thread throughout the project is the combination of Brussels traditions and the history of the building with a cutting, contemporary design.
